He offered truth and strength to me
I answered with my pride.
Every time we lay the deal down
My past and his future collide.
Embers are dying around us
While we try to fan the flame.
Within us all is a fierce regulation
With nothing good to gain.
Armor cracks and skin can slice
And we all know the stakes then.
But what if we knew not only the solution,
But where exactly to begin?
I’ve tried to be his creator
I’ve even attempted his hate.
Neither would he willingly let go
Yet would leave his life to fate.
Now I offer him simple truths
Prosperity of a different kind.
We play hide and seek in a world
Yet we never look, so we never find.
Like the tree that against the wind
Will never break but bend.
I’ve offered this entire write
To tell you I am not your friend.
