For the second year in a row
My charlatan has lied
Left me bereft of endearment
Until all dreams had died.
Today marks an anniversary
Of a life that went awry
Shot to left in darkness
Just to make a lady cry.
Now we wonder why I’m jaded
After another liar is gone
I’ve no room for enjoyment
When I’m dealing with a con.
Rivers run through dangerous ground
When we don’t know what I’ve carried
When some people look today
They’ll say “look who isn’t married!”

An insightful poem Josephine. I hope you know that you (like the rest of us) are more than just your marital status.
Yes, I know. It was about promises made and never kept. Twice, I may add.
Thanks for reading.
