Night calls me in like a sleep
Wavering in blissful unawareness
Cowering for the corner
Like a kitten lost in the dark.
Shells found on the beach were nothing
But dust once you picked them up.
Laying in the middle of the road
He waited for a car to come
It was a terrible place to fall asleep.
He was teaching her to love
But mostly trust
A man.
She was teaching him that people can love
With no regard
For financial security.
Now they are trying to touch
Trying to find themselves
Within one another.
When I say nothing
You fill in the blanks
As if you were in my head
And you have never
Ever
Been in any part of me.
