He Would Still Love Me

If I went to my knees before him

Promising to obey his every command.

Or wrote this beautiful prose

But nothing went as planned.

If suddenly the wind rose up

To take everything away

I woke up in a frightful mood

And wanted to run away.

If everything grew to a tornado

He spent a week cleaning it all

Then I sat and cried over what I had done

With my head up against a wall.

If I’m the lady of the house

During the day

Then the subservient love of his life

That wants to come out and play.

Everything he wants in me

A few surprises now and then

He doesn’t ask me why or how

He just wants to know when.

All of him wanting to stay

None wanting to flee

I never for a moment worry

If he still loves me.
