You May Have Heard

Took the air out of the room once,

Because it wasn’t necessary to breathe.

Stood at the edge of a cliff once,

But for a moment I could seethe.

Built a castle nobody could approach

In the darkness built a trap.

Never looked to see if I caught anything

Because I didn’t have the map.

You may have heard I lost my freedom

But gained a sense of loss.

Cried tears nobody saw today

Nailed them to a cross.

Heard whispers of my insanity

Though most are not truly sane.

Caught the distance within the wind

Held hope, in a grain.

Have you heard of my dignity?

It’s the largest I carry.

Next time I manage to peek

I’ll make sure to ride a ferry.
