Science taught me to be careful of the beast
While math taught me it wouldn’t win.
We take the anchor and mark the wound
Yet somehow we end up the sin.
Settled in quite nicely to pain
Then took a walk for survival.
It wasn’t long before we were tired
Long before our arrival.
Soft music plays in the distance
Hearts warming from within;
I stand in trepidation,
For I don’t know where to begin.
Honor taught me to walk away
When I know I cannot trust,
Yet bodies melding in endless nights
Leave me wanting to lust.
Right before I get to the gate
I realize the gravity.
He’s standing there with bloodshot eyes
And all I see is depravity.
There is a small part of me
That wants to do nothing but run.
Then an even smaller part
Says to get my gun.
