About Josephine Ranes

I began writing poetry as a child, my first one being something along the lines of “I have nothing to do but sit around the house just thinking of you.”

Writing long, entailed novels sounds daunting, and not something I thought I could do, so when a poetry contest was happening in my town, I wrote some and submitted them. Of course I lost. But it brought out in me how much I would like to get back into my poetry again.

So, I started this blog and published some books, and here I am today. Still plodding along writing here and there, and publishing here and there as well. I have 9 books currently published, and am hoping my next one will be a novel I’ve been thinking about for years.

I hope you enjoy my writing, and feel free to contact me at josephinelaranes@gmail.com

  4. “If you can feel then you can write.” What a great and inspiring tag line (I can’t agree with it making the writing process sound so simple! But it’s damn good).

  5. Thank you for following my blog. I love what you have to say about writing…

It reminds me of the days I used to freelance in the “regular markets.” Although I had some success, it’s about the waiting and waiting and the bottleneck industry where a paltry few are published while God has generously gifted so many with inspiration.

I remember submitting one essay that took me years to conceptualize and finally put on paper (back in the day I was writing a regular newspaper column and getting many inspirational pieces published) and after many weeks I heard back from a, hmmm, twenty-something recent J-school grad, an assistant to an assistant reader, or something, who liked the essay well enough, she just wasn’t cool with the subject matter, like, really, you know? lol! 🙂

    Stay the course!

    Cheers, and blessings.

  6. Thank you for the visit and the follow. I always enjoy meeting kindred spirits and I agree with what you’ve said about feeling and writing. “Never Quite Broken” is an inspiring title – what does not break us makes us stronger, yes? 🙂

  7. HI Josephine. It is an honour for me that you have selected my blog to follow. You are an inspiration and I am sure lots more is coming on your way. I would definitely like to know more about you. I hope you will explore my travel world too.

    Cheers

  8. Hi Josephine,
Your byline, “If you can feel, then you can write,” is exactly why I blog. I’m learning to feel. Poetry is quietly unsquashing all of the emotions I crammed down into a dark corner of my 5’2 frame. I look forward to reading and following your thoughts as you free them to the wind!

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I look forward to reading more of your work. It’s amazing the power of the word — those spoken to us and those spoken by us. I’m glad you decided to pick up the writing again.

  10. I am touched by your comment and buy your companionship on my journey as a writer. Is always been my believe anyone who can feel is never truly lost, only temporarily too scared to sort out their feelings and find their way home.
Thank you for taking the time to read what I write.

    Alexander

  13. Hi, you followed my blog recently. Thanks for the follow.

I would be keen to know how you found me and what prompted you to follow my little corner of the web.

  14. Josephine,

Was checking out your site again today. I have been following you for awhile. My ministry has been expanded to health and wellness, was looking for another revenue source to fund my ministry work. It has been very successful. Would love to share with you and perhaps you or someone in your network of followers would be interested. Thanks, Peggy

  16. Very happy to be here, Josephine. Yours is a lovely blog. I think the content of your heart and mind is what matters the most; not the content of your pocket. And that is what you offer here. I love it. I pray you keep shining through your blog and writings.

  17. Hello Ms. Josephine. I guess I am the opposite of you. I am fascinated by the authors I read and want to know all about them as well as their words, mind, spirit and heart. I suppose I will learn those things by reading your talent. Ciao Bella, Namaste.
